our recession scene

I'm listening to Scenes from a Recession, last week's installment of This American Life. It's a little depressing, I have to say, and the backdrop of the utter chaos that is my house doesn't help. I have 9 rooms and a garage to pack up and paint in 34 days . It sounds doable, right? I'm trying to get up the nerve to call in the troops from church to help with some of it. But I freely admit I am overwhelmed with this task. I excel at the quick and dirty cleanup (oxymoron)--the spray-the-shower-and-let-it-sit-for-an-hour-then-scrub kind of thing. This is not that kind of thing.

Call in the troops. Many hands make light work (and less stress). Most people are happy to help - it's positive energy.

I wish I was there to help. I love to paint rooms. :) I would definitely call your ward for help, after all the service that you have given out, I am sure that people would love the opportunity to help you.

I can pack a box like a champ. Only delima is that my help comes with two not so helpfuls... a toddler and a baby. But you have a playground, so that will take Care of Carter and I'll bring the bouncy seat for Owen. Call for help! Don't try to do this alone if you don't have to.

You've provided countless hours of service for member in the ward and its our turn to help you.

I agree that you should call in the troops. That's what they are there for! It always helps me to have some people there helping--much easier to purge with others around and also easier to stay focused. Plus, I agree with Angie, you have served so much. Now it is your turn to accept some help.
Wish I was there to help!

I listened to that TAL too - what a downer! Makes me thankful for the employment we (Tom) have. I "sixth" the motion - time to call some helpers! Wish I was there to be one of them!
